Another Lotus 102
Re: Another Lotus 102
Nice work...so that's what the styrene was for:-)
While i fully agree with you that the endplates should be as thin as possible the 0,05mm you were looking for sound really thin. That's quite wobbly when you get to painting and polishing
I see that you put two layers so you end up with more. 0,1mm brass or nickle silver plates would have worked too i think. Nice job on the curvature. The heat wasn't really necessary i think. I have made 0,1mm barge boards fo an MP4/8 that have that sort of curvature and they keep their shape when bent cold ( surprisingly )
I'm looking forward to more progress!

Wow very smart way to do the front wing end plate... I failed to do that because I was thinking to glue the extension on, but it kept breaking off.... Keep them coming

Very nice and creative building techniques!
This 102 conversion looks quite hard though.

Hello
Well done conversion
I see the last posts were from 1 year ago. Are you still doing it or did you already finished?
One question: What about the ice cream??
Thanks for sharing and congrats for the stunning work and tips

Re: Another Lotus 102
Finally after almost 7 years without any progress I am back on this project.
I had run in two problems which I had to solve before I could continue:
- Not enough space between enginecover and undertray to fix the gearbox between
- always re-appearing cracks on the enginecover
The gearboxproblem was solved by sanding away everything that was going to be hidden by the enginecover:
The problem with the enginecover was solved by adding styrene-stripes and putty on the backside of the cracks, which was very difficult.
With both problems being solved I could continue on the 102 and it's predecessor the Lotus 101, which I had recently started:
I am sure you won't have to wait that long for the next update.

Re: Another Lotus 102
Thank you for your comment, Tormentor!
The color I have used is the Camel Lotus yellow by Zero Paints.
On the jar is written that it is meant to be used for the 99T and the 100T, but I don't see a difference between the Camel Lotus cars in terms of the color.
