1/20 Lotus 72 in plastic!
OK, how many of you had an involuntary movement of some kind after reading that thread title?
You can take your finger off the pre-order button, it has not happened yet... but...
About 1 month ago HLJ put their remaining S27 Lotus 72 kits on sale and predictably they all sold out, and have not been restocked. As of today no 72's are showing in stock at all...
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Word ... =All&Dis=2
So it got me thinking why fire sale a popular expensive kit, when they've got dozens of more marginal subject matter in stock that could be encouraged to leave the premises? It has me thinking that HLJ know something about an upcoming release (in plastic?) that is not public knowledge and shifting stock before they're stuck with it.
OK, I've finished work on a Friday, and creating mischief, but I smell a conspiracy Enjoy your weekend gentle people.
Update 17.11.11 Ebbro announce 1/20 72C as an injection kit http://www.ebbro.co.jp/news11.html

Highly likely this will be next up. Its an obvious subject. Maybe (hopefully) Hasegawa?

It seems very strange that Hasegawa tooled up for a DFV and haven't taken the opportunity to use it elsewhere.

It could be that Lotus 72 isn't really a popular subject, and Studio 27 produced too many kits.
I'm currently trying to locate the source for the information on Tamiya's RB6 due out August..., which could be a complete bogus.

I personally would love a 72 in plastic as well as a late 49

It would be fantastic that hasegawa, fujimi or tamiya would launch this model. It´s one of my favourite F1 cars of all times and the studio 27 kit is too expensive for me unfortunately...

I personally would love to see the Lotus 72 in 1/20 scale. Also a RB6 in 1/20 by Tamiya would be great also. I'll buy them both.

That RB and Tamiya rumour is quite persistent . I'd buy a couple of them!
Re: 1/20 Lotus 72 in plastic!
Personally I think it makes more commercial sense for Tamiya, Fujimi or Hasegawa at the moment to consider a Sauber kit, as the japanese market is always the main target. Kobayashi's performances are increasingly demonstrating that the guy's a real deal, and it's not impossible to see him in a front team in the next few years. They lose the chance when Sato-mania was at its peak years ago, maybe now it's time to avoid to do the same mistake again...
But obviously I'd love to have a 1/20 Type 72!!
