Thank you for sharing these great photos!

Thanks guys for the comments - I’m really glad they might be useful. Far better they’re here, as well as in albums that only I look at once every 10 years.
I would pay a lot of money to be able to go back in time to just one of those ‘90’s tests. I often think about them. My dad and I were very, very lucky to get pits passes from a family friend who was Eddie Jordan’s business partner at the time.
I found some Youtube videos of three of those test sessions; I’ll post them tomorrow. Much F1 awesomeness...

Simply awesome. And look at that interesting anti-roll bar setup on the JS-29! Whoa.
Man, what a great opportunity to see and photograph those events. I didn't even remember McNish driving the McLaren!
Thank you very much indeed!

I love that shot of the Goodyear tire showing the white paint clearly outside the raised letters.

McNish was briefly employed as a McLaren test driver. That test session (‘90) he was evaluating the Honda V12 prototype that was going in the next year’s car (MP4/6). The test mule he was driving was designated the MP4/5C, which was basically a V12 version of the 4/5B. It was never intended to be raced. I’ve got a photo of him in discussion with Senna at the back of the pits - I’ll try to find it later.
You might have also spotted the Lotus engine with the Tickford cylinder heads. IIRC at the time they were 5 valve prototypes for the 4 valve CV series. Apparently they gave more top end power at the expense of drivability. I’m not sure they were ever raced though.

Wonderful. Wonderful. That was the era when I attended F1 races but your photos are great I don't want to sound too old and grumpy but the cars of the 70s and 80s really had character.
I see someone commented on the Sauber photo already so I agree.

Thanks! I'm hoping to improve quality a bit further when I get the negatives done.-Felix- wrote:This is simply fantastic, brilliant pictures!!!

I'm thinking of making them into a one-off book/scrapbook for myself, once I've sorted desktop publishing out. Thinking of scanning my autographs, timing sheets as well as a few notes on my memories of those events, printing them out and having it nicely bound. I was in my teens/early 20's at the time most were taken.
