Is there enough difference between the C2 and C3 so as to not use these as a reference for kit build? Mostly concerned with motor/transaxle details.

Yes... In those details that match.
It’s far from a 1-1 match. Not even with C2B
Different suspension, even different gearbox. Though these latter are 95% the same.
But for that “air” you might be after... really this close up is helping.
But for instance, anti roll bar is placed differently and the base chit on the GB is not there on the C3. Basically... what you see that matches the Protar model, look the two ny details
