1:12 F1 replacement tires and Set up wheels for Tamiya
Re: 1:12 replacement tires for Tamiya
Finaly i was able to take some new pics mounted on a Mclaren straight out of my junkbox. Please do not look too much at the model, it`s still full of dust as you see, needs a serious restauration.
First the older type rain tires with it`s symetric desgin
The new type with it`s asymetric design
And finaly some pics of the backside where the supports have been.
The side where the supports have been is the inside of the tire and needs some sanding before painting. I pre-sand the tyres but there might be small imperfections left, so you have to check this side and sand it a bit but in the mean they are smooth. This side is also important when putting on the rims cause the best way seems to put the rim from this side through the tire. Don`t ask me why, but i realized this is the best way to do it.
All Tires are checked on Tamiya rims to ensure a good fitting, normaly they hold themselves cause you have to press the rim gently in, but maybe it can be needfull or even if you want to, to add a bit glue. I would go for a PVA glue, wood glue or however you might call it, this leaves the option to remove them again if needed, CA glue would be not helpfull in this case.
Sorry for the crappy pictures, but i was in a hurry to catch the last remaining sun beams.

The pictures??
Making pictures is not my domain, sometimes sketches are not either...
That you love the tires I believe on the word! Great job you did there, you should give you a job at Goodyear as a designer!

You look great. I'm looking forward to raising it and testing it on 4/6.
