Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
Hi Thomas,
Thank you for showing us the technique. It is much better than some carbon decal sheets.
I find the decal patterns too prominent and not very realistic. I always have to tone the decals down by Tamiya smoke.

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
First thanks to all of you guys for the kind words.
But I am happy when I could help someone and show something "new". This is exactly what such forums are for.
So this was not my technique, I only copied it because I found it relatively simple and also very realistic for the effort.

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
I have a question to the group.
I am currently working on the seat shell, which I have just painted and already applied carbon decals (this time really decals).
Now I have 2 questions:
What do the seatbelts look like?
At the moment I haven't really found anything looking for pictures. It looks like the upper belt pieces are black and from the adjuster (silver to white). I would estimate the color of the adjusters to be black. The plug-in elements are certainly chrome-colored. The buckle is black. The side belts should also be silver / white and from the front come 2 thinner loops in black, which merge into silver / white again. The manufacturer of the belt is OMP. Maybe someone can confirm it or not.

And now question 2...
For the seat I would like to have the upholstery in the head area / back - a black foam so that it is slightly raised from the rest of the seat. Does anyone have any idea how to do it best and with what material?

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
Hi Thomas,
W12 use OMP safety harness. It is stated on the www.mercedesamgf1.com
You can find a picture and discription on OMP site.
https://www.ompracing.com/en_gb/car-kar ... rmula.html
Mercedes is using a mix of black/white on different sections of the harness system.
For the foam pad on the seat, you may use thin foam felt sheets for hand crafts. I have seen sheets about 1 mm or less thick in craft stores. Another method is to spray a matt black coat on plastic at a distance to give it some roughness to simulate the foam surface.

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
Yeah... Thanks for the pictures of the seatbelts from the OMP site.
I ordered some silver/white satin ribbon for belt material.
I attached some carbon decals on the seat and added adhesive cloth from MFH (I had it ion stock) - the color was beige but I recolored it in black.
I will use some PE from KA Models for the buckle and also designed some new element for 3d printing.

More pictures of the complete seat will coming soon.

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
Thanks
The print worked... I have to say I'm surprised myself that the small openings really remained open.
Now I just have to put paint on it, but I do that with the airbrush for the buckles so that there is not so much paint on it and then I wait for the ribbon.
