Mercedes AMG W12 2021
I was asked if I could present my current project here as well. Of course I can do that...
It will be difficult to post everything that has happened so far, but I want to show a few pictures as WIP and will continue when there is something new again.
The first step, of course, was to print all the parts.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2854.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2878.jpghttp://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2879.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2880.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2889.jpg
The floor plate...
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2909.jpg
... and here all the parts individually and the assembly.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2920.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2915.jpg
The next step was of course to glue all parts together and to make the connection points invisible.
Then prime and sand again... as almost always a task for several hours, depending on how good it should look in the end.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2927.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2942.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2943.jpg
The model also has a small disadvantage. You would have to install the seat first before you can bring the front end and the rear together. Since you can imagine that there is a not exactly nice connection point that you would have to remove or repaint afterwards, so I thought about how I can adapt that.
The seat should also be able to be installed with a connected body. So I had to find a way and cut out part of the interior of the cockpit. With it I can install the seat from below and glue the entire chassis together in advance, apply a putty and paint it.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2970.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2971.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2972.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2973.jpg
The complete body in one piece.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2948.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2952.jpg
Next step was painting some black base color...
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2959.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2960.jpg
...and decal work.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2979.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2984.jpg
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2988.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3058.jpg
In between there was of course an assembly test every now and then.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2974.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2976.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2978.jpg
Then I started with the floor plate. I didn't want to cover everything with carbon decals and test another variant because of the very many small elements in the front area.
So I painted it and I have to say I'm satisfied.
It looks good and seems to be more or less visible just as inconspicuously as original carbon does, depending on the angle from which you look at it.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2991.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2992.jpg

And of course I couldn't help but bring up a few more details and improvements to the model.
I will cut off the glass and exchange them for transparent elements.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2968.jpg
Opening and expanding the exhaust system.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2997.jpg
A glass for the rear light.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_2998.jpg
Add the camera 5, and some antennas for more attention to detail.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3013.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3053.jpg
The last steps I did were to remove 2 wings behind the front axle, which were too much (still from the launch concept), pre-paint the cockpit area and paint the fin in silver color.
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3057.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3070.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3071.jpg
And yesterday I painted the steering wheel. Again with the carbon effect and a lot of colors...
http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3072.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3073.jpg http://steinietrabi-skoda-fabia.de/Modellbau/Mercedes%20W12/IMG_3076.jpg
So that is the current status, it will certainly continue with the painting of the body. And carbon decals for the front and rear suspension are in preparation.

Great job!
Where do you get the files from?
Which printer and which resin are you using?
3d printing is a very nice addition for us modellers.
regards Christian

I get the files from a modeling colleague from Brazil, his Name is Joao.
I printed it with my Elegoo Mars (1st Edition), using water-washable resin (grey) and standard resin (transparent) from Elegoo, too.
As far as I know you have a Saturn. For some parts I would also like to have it, so that I have to split even less into pieces.

Great stuff Thomas! Can you please explain how you did the carbon effect painting? I like it a lot

Re: Mercedes AMG W12 2021
It's basically very simple and I was also amazed why I haven't used it earlier. It is ideal for large areas.
And the whole thing works with a single, simple aid - women's pantyhose or stocking. You put the pantyhose over the part and stretch it so that it sits really tight. On the back you can hold it together with a clamp or other tensioning element. You can also try to twist in the stocking for tensioning purposes. Caution - do not stretch too much so that an even pattern is created.
The surface should be primed black, as an effect color you can use silver or gold or a mixture of both colors.
The pattern is only misted on, as a very light application with the airbrush (I haven't tried the can yet). In any case, avoid getting a wet paint job. I did it with ZeroPaints, the drying time is so minimal and you can remove the stocking after 5-10 minutes and also paint another area or the back.
I also painted the steering wheel and after a little wait I took it out of the stocking.
Now the effect has to get a little depth, it is best to use a smoke color. Here I took Tamiya Smoke LP-67 and diluted it a little more.
Finally, apply a clear varnish to the whole thing, as desired (matt / semi / gloss).
Colored carbon (clear blue, red, yellow,...) are also possible and Kevlar should also be able to be represented in this way - I would make a gold-yellow background here and set the pattern with black.
I attached a step by step and a other sample photo and look also this video.
