Re: 1/6 Porsche 917 Engine Full Detail
thanks a lot for your nice comments
Some progress made on the IXO replacement engine
Fan cover and stator/rotor assembly almost done. The flexible coupling technique between the rotor shaft and rotor fan wheel is designed like on the real engine
... and some "model meets original" pictures, which I've taken in the Porsche Museum this week. The part shown is the right side of the crankcase prototype part in scale 1:4
Last but not least, I'd like to give advance notice that I plan to produce a very limited run of kits for this engine in scale 1:8, which will fit into the IXO model. The engine can either replace the IXO engine in the car or can be shown as stand alone model beside the car.
The kit will consist of 1000+ parts including 3D printed parts, machined parts, etched parts, decals and all cables, hoses, pipes, etc. Availability planned for winter/spring 2022/23. Price tbd. To assembly the kit requires advanced modeling skills ... it's definitely not a kit for beginners. In case of interest, just PM me.
BR,
Uli

Lovely detail work Uli, absolutely stunning!
I bet some people will give their right arm to get your kit!

Re: 1/6 Porsche 917 Engine Full Detail
slowly but steadily, the design/prototyping of the 917 engine kit in 1:8 scale continues. All etched parts and decals are done. Throttle slides and the BOSCH MFI are installed. Next step are the alternators and distributors. In parallel, I'm working on the parts list and the step-by-step instruction manual.
To hide this extremely detailed precision model in a IXO body is almost too bad. I am therefore thinking about offering this kit exclusively as a stand-alone model together with a stand. Availability of the kit in spring 2023.
Best regards, Uli

Hi Uli,
awesome work! looking forward to Spring 23!
In the last picture in the cabinet, I see 2 cars in neon yellow and neon green with propably neon orange mirrors. Are those maybe the 2018 Grellos from the Nürburgring?
Regards,
Felix

Re: 1/6 Porsche 917 Engine Full Detail
well observed, Felix indeed, these are the Grellos of 2018. I love to collect 911 RSRs and GT3s
Hi Eagle, I will offer only a very small number of kits. The production effort is very time consuming and the kit will not be a bargain in terms of price. Pre-orders are almost sold out. Just PM me and we can talk about the details.

Very nice update and great collection of RSR and GT3 models, impressing!
Like the GT3`s as well, did a couple of 43 models in the past, but mainly conversions based on diecast models.
The fuel injection pump is a piece of art on it`s own, lovely detailed Uli!
