Donor kits for 1/20 Alfa 183T & Ligier JS21?

Post by keithwwalker »

So I think I will try something different and do a few F1 paper kits.

I asked the publisher of ModelyF1 from Czech Rep to print two of his kits in 1/20 scale (they are usually 1/24).

https://eshop.modelyf1.cz/produkt/075-l ... in-jarier/
https://eshop.modelyf1.cz/produkt/147-a ... unch-1984/

I would like to cheat a little and have at least the tires (the Ligier has rain tires) and rims be rubber, resin or plastic.
They will be desktop models to not much under the bodywork needs to show.

Are there any aftermarket rims and tires available for mid 1980's F1? Both sets seem to be Speedline eight gold spokes with aluminum rims if you look at photos, though the Alfa comes with black Momo rims.

Thanks
kww

The JS21 wore rain tires for Germany GP practice, which set of (Michelin) rain tires would best match for 1983 season?

I am having a hard time finding a photographic reference for the tread pattern

Thanks

Not mine. I only have tires for the 312T3 and RE30 so late 70's at best. I'm sure the profile of the tire is much different in 1983.

I think you'll find that James was directing you to a picture in the 1983 Grand Prix International magazine with a picture of the wet weather pattern Michelins used in Detroit.
If you can look at images of the 1983 Detroit (US East), Belgian or German GPs on Motorsportsimages.com or revsinstitute.org you should be able to find what you are looking for.
For my money Derek is being unduly modest as his RE30B wet weather tyres look the right pattern and are likely to be the right size as well, given that the RE30C was the car that Renault used at the start of 1983.

Hope this helps
