Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Small update.
The capri was stripped of his hoods and a door.
It was pretty easy.
The Würth Decals with printed discs are already there.
greetings Christian

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
My model-making mojo is back and I continued building on the Capri right away.
The door has found its fastening.
I built the cage from the resin sides together with aluminum pipes.
I worked the rims from the back so far that you can see through the grille.
The vehicle height has now been determined.
Now I go to the subtleties like closing small holes before I start installing the motor-gearbox dummy.
I hope that the updates will follow a little faster because I now have the decals for the white Würth, the black D&W and the Liqui Moly Capri here.
So I have to build the Capri 3 times.
best regards
Christian

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Go on.
The Capri was primed so far and now also filled with nitro filler. There were very few holes in the body.

Now it's time to fine-sand and then prime with white.
Will definitely be the Würth version by Klaus Ludwig.

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Update:
The Capri has now been primed in white, the later base color.
Grind again and then comes the next layer which can hopefully remain the last.
Besides that, I started this vehicle.
First of all, the rough unevenness was removed with a 2k spatula and then spray spatula was applied.
Much remains to be done here.

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Oh Christian,
those babies sure came out awesome. The Capri is not my cup of tea, but the model is perfect. And that 917/10 wow. Looking at the before and after screens I have to say "2k spatula" wasdattdenn (whatisit)? but the results surely speak for themselves. Now I really want you to lay them up in fibreglass. I know we've discussed this before. You know you want to
But knowing how these things go, I think we'll see the MFH version just about when your model is done, like with some of the other cars.
The only question I have, and I think I've asked that before and forgot about it (old timers disease) is what is the build envelope of your printer? Asking because - I know this is backseat driving (commenting after the fact) - I wouldn't have cut the nose into 3 parts, if possible, but rather have made a cut where the doors start and the 2nd cut right after the doors. I mean, your cleanup of the seams is flawless, but it might not have been necessary. Oh plus you would have the option of movable doors . From what I remember of the real 917s, the fins were separate pieces that were laminated onto the body at a later stage - smaller and less complex moulds etc..

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks for the reply.
@Roman
The size of my printer is 210x210x205
I decided to cut the whole model in 5 pieces because of the shape. And I have to say that this was the first bigger print on my printer. So everything was new. Maybe now I would choose another method with different cuts.
But its not my goal to make a full detail with open doors and stuff. That's the goal of MFH.
Only want to add another cool car to the cabinet.

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thanks AJ!
Update Capri:
I painted the front spoiler and the doors with the airbrush.
With the spoiler, the decals wouldn't have worked.
Let's see how it works with the black on the fender. Maybe I have to do some paint afterwards.
greetings Christian
