I was there at Vegas and saw Piquet pass him for the championship right in front of him. At the time I did not think much of it. Over, time reading about his post F1 life I am very respectful of his grace and humility.

OMG !! What a sad news . I am really shocked, one of the greats and maybe the best anti hero.
Tied with Massa for the best and more sympathetic sub champion.

When I looked back at his career, I was always taken at how often he finished, in a time when cars would break if you sat down too hard in them. He was consistently fast and could bring the car home, a true talent for that time. AND he was able to podium at Rally Argentina! Bravisimo.

Oh no! I'd been seen a lot of posts from his facebook page indicating he was having health issues. RIP Carlos.

He was my prefered driver from 1973 up to his retirement. His driving style was so smooth that you could think he has slow until check the chronograph. Arriba Lole!!
