From the photo it looks like a 12 cylinder. If that is a narrow wheel in the background that would say a prewar or early postwar 12 cylinder. Not that many to choose from so I will say German pre war.

If that is a wheel at the back, the perspective would be weird in how the wires from what might be the distributor branch of to the left and right. If that is indeed the distributor, it is worth noting that the cables are 2 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 2. I think that may narrow it down considerably looking for 12 cylinders. Could this maybe be a part of the fuel system?

Let's try another angle if it is indeed a narrow wheel 12 cylinder. Maybe the Lord Selsdon(British) entered Lemans 1949 winning Ferrari 166MM?

Porsche 908 is my guess.

I think the 4 lines in the back are plug leads, 8 in the front are fuel. Porsche 908 google search brings up white car with green nose, and it seems Hiro San likes Porsche!!

I would say the XJR-5 would fit much better if we go by color. But there is no grey in the car !?
