Haven't found the exact match yet, but there are similarities with a Maserati Birdcage frame...

Can't find a match for the first picture but then I don't know these Maseratis well.

I looked at Jag XJ13, Ferraris 512 and 312P, Cobra Daytona and Mercedes Silver Arrows but couldn't find a match.

I was thinking Maserati at first but ruled out the birdcage as the tubes are to small. I think it might be a Aston Martin as the green says British. The way they cut and spliced the drawing together is troublesome. Very sneaky.

Hm, my thinking of the birdcage was based on the frame layout center cabin. However, the tubes are indeed too small. The DBR1 has a similar central cabin frame. However, after looking at it some more, it might be the DBR1/2 - THAT car (Lemons winner and all that jazz).
Some of the shots at this page have me believe we might have a winner. Pic 17 shows that weird thing bolted to the frame eyelet in front of the driver seat that we see in the frame. I thought that the sides of the frame around the cabin would be straight up vertical, as I found these on another DBR1 for sale. That one turned out to be a replica though. So yeah. Ma moolah is on the DBR1/2.

And the mystery of 12 leads... well it would seem that 6-cylinder is fed by twin sparkies per cylinder
Cheers,
Roman

From what I recall, the MATRA 650 was tube frame, 660/670 sheet monocoque.
cevert wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 9:56 am I built the Matra full scratch in this scale and this chassis does not resemble 670 at all. It has a chassis mainly made of aluminum. Only if it was a front (rear) frame, it was tubular. Still, I don't think this is the Matra 670

Latest picture shows wire wheels... so the Matra's are out. The DBR1 would be a hard one to pass... ;-)

Well, they kind of ran out of projects to do in the smaller scales at some point but are now overtaking that in 1:12 in a way.
Recently they've started releasing the 1:12 kits in smaller scales as well where they hadn't done them before, even if only as "model show specials" that were then available for the international market as well.
So they added some 1:20 and 1:24 and also a number of 1:43rds.
I've come to the point where I mentally stop all my fantasy full detail conversion projects of smaller scale kits because it seems Hiro will do them before I ever manage to.
I can come up with some projects for them to do in 1/20-1/24 ........Matra MS80, BRM P160, Parnelli VPJ4, McLaren M20......and on and on....

The real issue is that their margins on 1:12 kits are larger.

You're probably right about the margins. Anyway, if they do one in 1:12 there's a good chance they'll release it in smaller scale later.
Until then I have more than enogh to do :-)

Btw they did the MS80 already.
They could do a lot of CanAm. It looks like that's not down Mr Hiro's alley. In the end he does what he likes and that's up to him.
