Re: 1/12th MFH Porsche 962C

Beautiful build, bravo! Such a iconic livery!
There should be a thread simply about favorite 956/962 sponsorship liveries. My personal favorite is the Brun Torno color scheme.

Re: Villeneuve Pironi documentary

The 1982 racing season as a whole was epic, besides the F1 season, we had the debut of Group C in sports car racing, a epic Indianapolis 500, the dawn of Group B in rallying, Franco Uncini’s magnificent 500cc title in a dramatic Moto GP season (which included the debut win for a young Freddie Spence...

Re: Villeneuve Pironi documentary

There is a terrific book available called Didier Pironi, The Champion That Never Was. The author did an amazing job researching this bio of the enigmatic Frenchman. He had a bizarre upbringing, where his mother is also his aunt (it makes sense it you read it). Didier led complicated relationships wi...

Re: Villeneuve Pironi documentary

I’m looking forward to seeing this at some point. I always felt that Didier was very unnecessarily vilified by what happened. In 1981 there was the Jones-Reuteman episode at Rio, then in 1982 there was Arnoux-Prost at Ricard, all far more blatant ignoring of team orders than what went on at Imola in...

Re: MFH 1/12 for April.

I applaud Mr Hiro for his passion for the sport, and his love of modeling, but sometimes I personally question his subjects if he is really interested in making a profit from them. The Lotus 88 never raced, it was a clever idea to skirt (no pun intended) the 1981 ban on sliding skirts, as was the un...

Re: MFH 1/12 for April.

The B194 was arguably the most butt-ugly F1 car of all time, including that hideous blue-green livery. Money stays in the checking account if it’s that
creature!

Re: Another one gone - RIP Slim Borgudd

If you have, or find a copy of Memories of Ronnie, there’s a nice photo of Slim with Barbro Peterson at the 1981 British GP.

Re: Penske paint colors

Agreed, Penske only campaigned a March in F1 in 1975. Mark Donohue was lured out of retirement to drive it, and sadly lost his life at Osterreichring. For 1976 Penske built his own F1 car, the Geoff Ferris designed Penske PC4, and John Watson drove it to victory at, of all places, the Osterreichring...

Re: Jean Piere jabouille. ..RIP

It is staggering to think of the talent that was on the F1 grids in the late 70’s-early 80’s, from the front row to the back of the grid. One of the magazines rated the 1978 Austrian GP as the greatest starting grid in F1 history, taking into account the collection of drivers who were, or would beco...
