Re: Audi A4 DTM - Mattias Ekström 2009 - UPDATE 11 MARCH

Hi, I learn a trick doing window trims in a model competition. A fellow won a price with his Porsche GT3. His car has very sharp black window trims. He told me that it is easier to use black trim decal than paint. You can dull coat it to satin or matt as you like. I have not have a chance to test it...

Re: toyota TF102

Hi Vincent,

Yours a very beautiful build.

I have the same kit and half built. I am wondering how easy do the red decal conform to the body work. Do you find it easy?

Re: Revell Ferrari F2007

Hi,

The paint job looks great! Painting clear over a base coat is not that easy to get an even thickness layer. Yours looks very good.

Re: BRM P153/160/180

Hi Alex, I think you may miss what I said. I suggest you to use 2 or 3 layers of thinner sheets to build up to 1 mm. This give you better control on a compound curve surface as thinner sheet is easier to bend and form. Gluing multiple bent layers together maintains the curve surface better. You can ...

Re: BRM P153/160/180

Hi Alexander, This should be an interesting and challenging project. I have some scratch building experience. I used to make paper models for myself. If you want to use styrene sheet as your start, it is close to making paper model. First, I would suggest to use thinner sheets. It is easier to use 0...

Re: Polishing/waxing procedure

Hi Corpsegrinder, The lighter color is probably due to the matt sanded surface. colors changes with surface texture even if the same clor pigment is used. Usually very smotthsurface looks deeper in color. Personnally, I always wet sand. All these touch up sand paper are design for wet sand. The adva...

Re: 1/24 Tyrrell Project 34

Hi Katzen,

Nice looking P34. I just wonder where did you get the body from? I was thinking about making/building a P34 in 1/24 scale for a while.

Re: Gloss varnish over decals on bodywork?

Hi, As I have mentioned before, I do apply a clear coat on top of the decals to protect them. However, I only apply a thin layer such that one still can see the edge step of the decals. I do not put thick clear coats to make the whole surface smooth to hide the decal edges. Personally, I find that t...

Re: Gloss varnish over decals on bodywork?

Hi Joe, I think almost all sponsor decals are applied after the paint job in the real cars. I don't think there is a top clear coat on them. At least the CART car that I had a chance to look at and touch was done like that. It is more of a personal preference. If you want the model be more accuratel...
