Drive to Survive-Nikita Mazepin

Just finished watching episode 3 and I am pretty sure that Haas is glad he and his father are gone. He came across as a spoiled little rich kid, blaming everything but himself for poor driving and Daddy joined in. My guess is that Gunther will think twice before taking money when the owners little b...

Re: Porsche 935 1/12 Tamiya

Beautiful model. I loved the fit of this old kit. Someday I'll have time to build it again. I still have a first edition with the first Scale Motorsport super detail kit in my cave. I've built two with the SMS kit. I would suggest you get on it before you get too old. It took me three years to comp...

Re: Building an F1 parts display like in old Tamiya catalogs?

If you are ever in Irvine, CA, they have them hanging on the walls of the US headquarters. They make a great display.

Re: How much would you charge for commissions to build F1 Models?

I agree with most people here. I've done several commissions, including builds for advertising for a major model company. When I calculated my hourly rate, I never even made minimum wage standards. People asking you to build have the mistaken idea that part of your reward is the fun of building. Wel...

Re: 3d printing: Ford Escort MK1 in 1/12 scale

@Pete: it's something in the range of 1-1,5 kg of resin needed. The supports needs a lot on the body parts. The smaller parts needs less supports. Its something I never thought about it so far. I got my price when I offer it and that is OK for me and hopefully not too much for modeler who wants one...

Re: 3d printing: Ford Escort MK1 in 1/12 scale

Very nice work! I have a somewhat rude question. What does it cost in printing material to do something on this large of a scale? I know doing a project like this is not about cost, but idol curiosity got the better of me.

Re: Dale King

I will most assuredly miss Dale. The time I spent with him at our "Tamiya" club meetings and dinners before will always be treasured. His builds were always special, even the ones that were just for fun. I was looking for a photo I had of one of his builds that used motorcycle rims and tir...

Re: Polishing clearcote question

How do I describe the speed? I guess it is a lower medium speed. I want to feel the wheel "float" on the surface. I use a cloth polishing wheel. It looks like Dremel discontinued the one to use with a regular mandril and only sells in with the EZ mandrel. The item # is 423e. When you get ...
