Re: High speed Drill bits

David, sorry, I didn't pay attention to the initial post. Didn't pickup that it was you. Now I see what you are doing. These are where I get mine. https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn?searchterm=circuit%20board%20drill%20bits&tg=Suggested%20Keywords I buy the Kyocera brand. They seem to be well m...

Getting rid of my collections!

I'm posting this with a heavy heart...😔 As much as I love my Tamiya collection, it takes up too much of my time and I am struggling to keep up with the everyday basics, such as cleaning and helping out around my home. Something has to give, so I will be getting rid of my collection. Below is a list ...

Re: High speed Drill bits

More than likely the ones you got from amazon are carbide. Yes, they are very brittle. If you have some kind of drill press set up(there are a lot in hobby sizes) they they are great because they retain an edge for a long time. What you hare looking for is a wire gage steel bit. This will be fairly ...

Re: Focus stacking to get the perfect photo

That is the standard way to adjust the depth of field for a single shot. My a7II does that very well, but by using the spot focus and shooting 4 or 5 shots with the spots on different parts of the model and stitch them together with stacking, I get a photo which has a greater depth of field than I c...

Focus stacking to get the perfect photo

Have you ever been frustrated when shooting your models by having one part in focus and most of the rest out of focus? Yea, I would bet that pretty much all of us have. I recently discovered the concept of photo stacking. This is a technique where you take multiple photos with different focal points...

Tamiya Cosworth engine

Pretty much anyone who has been building in the F1 category is aware that the Cosworth engines in a lot of the Tamiya kits are quite inaccurate because when the kits were designed, they had a battery box and electric motor inside. With the proliferation of 3D printing I was wondering why no one has ...

Re: Cutting Printer help

For very small circles, the Waldron punch and die set is exceptional, though they seem a bit hard to find anymore. Micro mark has their own style. https://www.micromark.com/Micro-Punch-Set I have been using mine to punch out Bare Metal Foil dots for a long time. Old school, but sometimes that is best!

Re: Desktop lamp advice request...

Just one comment and the first poster can tell of his experience. I had the one with a magnifier for many years and found the lens to be an absolute pain! Having to move the lens into position each time I used it, and having it between me an my work just wasn't practical. I suppose it would be fine ...

Re: Desktop lamp advice request...

If you are just looking for lighting, I got one of these several years ago for my lathe work station. I love it. I can adjust the intensity and the color to get the best possible view. With it's length it virtually eliminates shadows. Not cheap but for me it was well worth the money. https://www.ama...
