Re: airbrush/compressor help
I run into this every now and then and find it's mostly self inflicted. My theory is that if I don't release the paint flow prior to shutting off the air paint can flow through the needle in to the nozzle. If I then reintroduce the air that paint shoots out as a blob and onto the model, I have to ve...

Re: MP4/6 Yet another technique for that wrinkled carbon eff
But the seat and steering wheel are flat black, and that front roll hoop too, plus the main one. But they never look bronze and gold.... It's the resins in the CF causing the effect, and it's real. I've seen it on fresh out of the mould parts, smooth female moulded parts at that. The differing textu...

Re: MP4/6 Yet another technique for that wrinkled carbon eff
I'm with Flemming on this one, Yes, in theory the carbon fiber is flat black, but those fibers are encased in resin that isn't completely clear and it is the resin that gives this color effect. I've seen it with my own eyes many times having worked in F1 for several years. Whether the piece in quest...

1:20 Wheel Hubs Now available
I couldn't bring myself to use the philips screws on my B188 so I drew up these wheel hub/ nut assemblies. Each set consists of 6 car sets of hubs, 3 sets with a narrow nut, as pictured, and 3 with a wider nut. Available now on Shapeways..... https://www.shapeways.com/product/9CZUG7JJL/1-20-f1-90s-w...

Re: 2020 F1 Aero
WTH is that Handle on the Ferrari for??? LOL I'm thinking it was to simplify the shadow plane rule. If they connected those two pieces with a winglet it may have had to have a slit in it to allow light to pass through. Look at the larger boomerangs, it's particularly noticeable on the Renault and t...

Re: Finally FW14B detail set
I laser scanned the front of the monocoque at work today and am going to look at a 3D printed replacement for the front of the tub and the shock cover for my kit.
I'll keep you all in the loop with it and maybe it will end up in my shapeways store if it turns out nice!

Re: Finally FW14B detail set
Picked up the kit recently and am anxiously awaiting the full kit from TS. The big one for me is getting rid of that monocoque seam line while still managing to pack all that TS goodness inside the cockpit!!! Any ideas????? I'm open to suggestions!! Looks like we may have to take a page from the pla...
