Re: Long term project; 1982 grid 1/20 scale

Well, thanks for the thread drift! Now I know where to go for helmets. JamesB, PMs will be coming your way soon. Back to 1982. Underside colours for Renaults. Tamiya suggest aluminium but dont specify where. Was all of the sidepods and the central monocoque bare aluminium under or were the sidepod b...

Re: Long term project; 1982 grid 1/20 scale

Thanks all for the encouragement! Lets start off with a question on Helmets in 1/20. I've discovered that my figure of Piquet has the wrong style of helmet yet Tamiya included this style in the earlier JS11 kit. It's also wrong for Patrese different style again (my second Brabham kit just landed yes...

Re: Long term project; 1982 grid 1/20 scale

Nah, I won't get bogged down in the details too much as I'll never get anything done otherwise. As I said OOB as much as possible as they are for me, no one else. I would like some specifics though, like doing the two Ferraris as they were at imola and Patrese's Monaco winning BT49d. Those are the t...

Long term project; 1982 grid 1/20 scale

Advice/tips appreciated. Plan to build as many as available, OOB, plastic preferred, resin ok but will be restricted by cost. Ideally want 2 of each but realistically need to budget appropriate to my means! Have 1 BT50 built and 1 in the post for no2, Shunko decals with notions of converting a third...

Hello and an intro...

Hi all from Ireland. Can't believe this. Apparently I joined here this day 9 years ago when i posted starting research on my Hasegawa Lotus 79. 3 years back I posted on my BT50. Been modelling since a child bar a hiatus in my twenties. Do nearly everything (planes, ships, ships with planes on, cars,...

Re: Can This Be Fixed?

If it's resin, putting it into very hot (not boiling) water might restore its shape without even forcing it. Worth a try.

Re: BT50 decals and paint

I've just got those Shunko decals in the post from Hiroboy, they look good but I'm now intimidated by having to mask and spray ALL the blue areas.... sidepods and wing ok, but what about the nose and behind the cockpit? One little error and.....

Re: BT50 decals and paint

Thanks, any idea on the undersides? I've seen one model with the centre plank white and the undersides of the sidepods black. I would have thought aluminium but open to correction.

BT50 decals and paint

Hi all,

just a quick one,

Hiroboy do paint for the BT52, is this the same as the blue on the BT50?
Also, what do you recommend for aftermarket decals, (there are a few sets out there..) as I remember from building one of these 20 years ago that the white decals are translucent.

TIA
Roy
