Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Calling it quits! This one was never going to be perfect, but I'm happy the way it turned out. Must say, it definitely makes quite a visual impact in real life! I will certainly do a photoshoot in natural light, maybe outside, when the weather permits and the light is interesting. In the following p...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
@AJ: Thanks for the compliment! But don't underestimate your own skills.. I think you're are doing a pretty impressive job with that F2002 project you have going! @Roman: Yes it is coming together nicely, but to finish the job I need to stay critical and focus on the problems! I did a near-complete ...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Time for an update. Definity NOT ready yet, but getting close now. IMG_7345.jpg IMG_7389.jpg IMG_7390.jpg IMG_7420.jpg IMG_7422.jpg IMG_7423.jpg After that it's mainly a matter of cleaning up, removing some visible glue accidents, repairing paint chips, some rough edges and spots where I polished th...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
So for the next one, have the doors... THE NEXT ONE..? I'm not sure if I could handle one of these again... I hope that implicitly and politely answers your last question  No, for the next coupe of months it's back to Airfix snap fit kits for therapy... Okay, serious mode on: Actuall...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Ha, that would be AWESOME!! So Willi Kauhsen is you neighbor? :D Today I worked on getting the rear cowling to fit properly. Fit was good a few months ago, but not anymore. Had to take away a lot of material, and it's very hard to find out where exactly the contact takes place. IMG_7313.jpg IMG_7316...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Quick update, finally got the front bodywork installed.
Now on with the rear parts. Should be easier -- but you never know with this one...
Thanks for your comments, and see you next time.

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Thanks guys! @CK: you're absolutely right and I agree. But in the end I prefer the appearance "as a model" over 100% period-correct accuracy. I certainly wouldn't want to overdo the shine, but when photographing and using good lighting, it's easier to work with a glossy model in my experie...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Good news, no more repainting this time :) Mainly polishing and some secondary paintwork (door rubbers, headlight housing, interior). Here are some pictures of some loose test fitting. Lots of gaps, but I didn't tighten the screws yet. IMG_7181.jpg IMG_7191.jpg IMG_7197.jpg IMG_7199.jpg IMG_7207.jpg...

Re: 1/12 MFH Porsche 917 LH
Thanks again guys! I said earlier that I had drawn the line, but I lied. On close inspection the green decals on the rear cowling still had problems (how surprising... cracks everywhere, blue color shining through) so I decided to mask and paint them. Actually now almost all green is painted,...
