Thankyou, yes I did. Just over Christmas break. I put aside my heartache over the crinkle paint finish and built the car as a lightly battle scarred version with scrubbed tyres and track rash on the nosecone. I'm happy with it. Thats why I have now started on the 643 restoration.

I guess it depends if you like paintwork or detailing. To be honest, the only thing that gave me heartache when building my M23 was the paintwork. I'm not cut out for it. So a more finished kit like the Deag cars suits me better.

Well I guess I am in the over 50 1:8 scale club too! So far, I have the Eidai Lotus 72D and McLaren M23, Deagostini McLaren MP 4/4 and MP 4/23 and the Rosso Ferrari 643. Yes, it has only affected the red on the top of the body, front to back, extensive. The white is OK.

Thinking about very gently sanding back the red only, masking and repainting. Tedious but much less drastic than dismantling and stripping.

Why are you using so much different brands? What is that Johnson's clear? Something like future? Why you sealed it with Johnson's stuff and a while later with a second clear coat. Make that sense? I don't understand that, can you explain it please. I only use the same clear coat to seal the Decals ...

I used Halfords primer, followed by Tamiya white. Then Tamiya TS-36. All that went on over a year ago. Then, after I applied the gold stripe I sealed everything with Johnsons Clear. So far so good.
