Re: 1/12 ABC Brianza Ferrari 158: It’s an Old Story

Congrats on your finished build! Yes it is an old story but it shouldn't take away from your accomplishment or make you feel bad. I also have this ABC kit, along with the previous, even more primitive Bandai 1512, plus the relabeled UPC version! Shouldn't stop you from getting the new MFH car(s) ei...

1/12 ABC Brianza Ferrari 158: It’s an Old Story

That story goes like this: there is a subject that you’d REALLY like to have a model of. Unfortunately, the only kit available may have many flaws, or is not the exact version that you want, or, even worse, there’s no kit at all. You then spend hours, days, months, or even years improving and rework...

Re: A Nine Year Project Completed: 1/12 Ford GT #GT110 ,the ’66 Sebring Winner

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I should have mentioned in the article that the decals on the model came from Indycals. I was looking through Michael's catalog hoping to find some suitable Autolie decals for the model when I discovered, to my surprise, that he actually makes a 1/12 set for...

A Nine Year Project Completed: 1/12 Ford GT #GT110 ,the ’66 Sebring Winner

I have not been working on this model continuously for the last nine years, but back in 2012 I got the idea of converting the then new Trumpeter 1/12 Ford Gt Mk II into the roadster that Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby drove to an incredibly lucky victory in the 1966 Sebring 12 Hours of Endurance. The stor...

Re: 1/12 Trumpeter GT-40

Back in 2012 I started a WIP thread converting the Trumpeter MkII kit into the '66 Sebring winning roadster driven by Miles and Ruby. The project remains uncompleted, but the thread does explain many of the short comings of the kit and how some of them can be fixed: https://www.f1m.com/forum/viewtop...

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Lotus 72C Conversion

No recent progress, but I recently retired and have been using part of the time to complete models I started, some decades ago, and never completed. The 72C is definitely on the list, so hopefully something soon.

Re: Lotus 72C - MMK Models 1/12th

No, I messed up the paint job and I was going to strip and repaint it. Then MFH started doing 1/12 kits, so it's still waiting.

Re: Lotus 72C - MMK Models 1/12th

The rear suspension is definitely incorrect and I have my doubts about the single fire extinguisher bottle. All the period photos of the 72C front end undressed, as well as cutaway drawings, that I have seen show either two bottles mounted side-by-side longitudinally, or a single bottle mounted tran...

Re: MFH 1/12 Ferrari 315S/335S

Strange but in 1957 SEFAC sportscars had green metallic front wheels with a yellow lip. On some cars the rear wheels were also painted blue metallic, but the Mille Miglia #0684 winners rear wheels from the color photos I have seen from the race are silver. It could vary. Hawthorne's car at LeMans, ...
