Re: Kitbox Detail Set Porsche 935
Not sure about the other set, but SMS is the best you can get. I have built two of them and it is a long time commitment to do it right. I still have multiples of both the tamiya and SMS kit. They create an absolute masterpiece when you take the time.

Re: Recommended heat gun/hair dryer for decals?
I have a Wagner paint striping gun. Their model Furno 700 heat gun https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/product/furno-series/furno-700-heat-gun/ is great for the job even though it may seem like overkill. I use it because I can set exactly the heat I want from 125 to 1300 degrees. It also have a variable...

Same to you Derek. Glad to see you again. I might be able to get to the club meeting soon. The Docs are considering lifting my 1 hour from the hospital restriction.

Re: Dust coats of paint....how to?
In my world, a dust coat is just a very light coat. Certainly not enough paint to create a wet surface. I prefer well thinned paint and a low pressure on the brush. Low pressure is going to be dependent on the brush though. Different brushes have different requirements. Get some plastic spoons and p...

Re: Drilling PE?
I have sherline sensitive drilling attachment for years. Specially for OP’s task, I do not think Sherline mill is the best approach. You will need mill clamp attachment and hold down, meanwhile also need to make sure the holes you are drilling is hollow beneath. Can easily bend the PE inadvertently...

Re: Drilling PE?
Got a suggestion, but it is most likely to cost more than you want to spend or you don't have space for it. Sherline makes a sensitive drilling attachment for their mill that I have used to do exactly this. Here I am using it for drilling lug holes in a custom set of rims, but I have drilled out a b...

Re: Model shops in Tokyo?
It is a very long time ago, but it you have a week end, the bullet train down to Shizuoka will get you to the Tamiya and Hasegawa world headquarters. It is about 5 hours round trip but worth is to see. It has undoubtedly change but there were several model shops close by. They did have a small shop ...
